Senior placement & care planning · MW Senior Care Services · All of Texas

We're matchmakers.
Our clients are 84.

We don't sell senior living. We know it — room by room, cook by cook. So when your family needs a door, we hand you three we'd walk our own mothers through. And when the answer isn't a move at all, we'll build you the care plan instead.

Free to your family, always.

From the pink notebook

  • ✓The Heights — asked how young you have to be to move in. For myself. Only half joking.
  • ✓Richmond — the chef brings his Cajun twist and his own family recipes. They are genuinely that good.
  • ✓River Oaks — wouldn't swipe right.
  • ✓Katy — walked in and got recruited for happy hour. It was a blast.

Right care plan · Right place · Right people Free to your family, always.

Why families call us

Most families get twelve minutes and a printed list.

Handed to them at 2am, in a hospital hallway, during the worst week of their lives — about as sensible as picking a spouse off a billboard. We do it the other way around.

We walk the halls first

Before your family ever needs us. We meet the cook. We sit in the activity room on a Tuesday at 3pm, when nobody's performing.

Three doors, not a list

We hand you three places we'd walk our own mothers through — and we tell you exactly why the other forty aren't on it.

Sometimes the answer isn't moving

Plenty of families call us about a community and leave with home health and a respite schedule instead. We'll tell you if that's you.

We're not a call center

Not a website, not a lead service in another state. We're the team that already knows — and you'll have a real phone number that reaches us.

Everything we help with

Placement is where we started. It's not where we stop.

Most families arrive asking one question and discover they had four. You can bring us any of this — or all of it — and it costs your family nothing.

Senior living placement

Personal care homes, assisted living, memory care, independent living, 55+, skilled nursing. We've walked them.

Care plans

The whole picture — what she needs now, what's coming, what it costs, and the order to do it in.

Home health

Skilled nursing, physical and occupational therapy delivered at home, and who's actually good at it.

Care at home

Non-medical help — companionship, bathing, meals, medication reminders, someone there overnight.

Hospice & palliative care

When comfort becomes the goal. We'll help you find people who do this with real tenderness.

Respite care

Short-term relief so the caregiver in your family doesn't become the next patient. This one matters.

Specialized care

Dementia and Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, complex medical needs, bariatric care, behavioral challenges.

Estate planning

Introductions to elder law attorneys we trust — powers of attorney, Medicaid planning, the paperwork nobody wants.

Downsizing & moving

Senior move managers, estate sales, and the practical help of turning a whole house into one room.

Where we work

Houston is home. Texas is the territory.

Our team tours Houston constantly — it's our backyard and we know it street by street. But families move for adult children, for weather, for cost. If your mom is in Houston and your sister is in Amarillo, we can work both ends.

How this works

Three steps, and you can stop at any of them.

No contract, no obligation, no cost to your family at any point.

1

We talk

Twenty minutes on the phone. Who she is, what she needs, what you can spend, and what's actually going on. Honest answers only — we've heard all of it.

2

We bring you a plan

Three communities we've personally walked, or a care plan that keeps her home — whichever is genuinely right. With real costs, either way.

3

We go together

We tour with you, we ask the questions families don't know to ask, and we stay in it until she's settled. Then we keep checking in.

About us

Two people, one very specific obsession.

Between us we have walked more Houston senior living communities than we can reasonably justify. That is the entire advantage we offer your family.

Kays Hoff, Houston's Senior Matchmaker, at her desk in pink heart-shaped sunglasses.

Kays Hoff

Senior Placement & Care Plan Specialist

Kays is the one with the pink notebook. She tours communities constantly — walking the halls, meeting the cooks, sitting in the activity room on a Tuesday at 3pm when nobody's performing — and writes down what she actually sees. Some of it is lovely. Some of it wouldn't get a swipe right.

She does this for a reason. She walked this road herself, with her own mother and her own grandmother, and learned exactly how it feels to be handed a printed list at the worst moment of your life with nobody to tell you the truth about what's on it. So she became the person she wishes she'd had.

That's the whole job now: three doors instead of forty, real numbers instead of vague ones, and an honest answer even when the honest answer earns her nothing.

Marci Walters

Co-Founder · MW Senior Care Services

Twenty years in this industry, and she has never met a stranger. Marci walks the halls — hospitals, communities, everywhere in between — and by the time she leaves, she knows everyone's name and half their story.

She knows the ins and outs nobody writes down. Which means she will guide your family to places you didn't know existed and to options you didn't know were possible.

When you know Marci, you know her. Vivacious, relentless on behalf of her clients, and constitutionally incapable of doing the bare minimum.

Our promise

We place your loved one where they fit — not where we get paid.

Ask us the question everyone's too polite to ask

"Do you just send us where you get paid?" No. And we'd rather you asked out loud.

Everyone deserves a place to call home that actually meets their needs. That belief came before the business, and when the two ever disagree, the belief wins. We place your loved one based on what they need — with integrity, every single time.

Here's the whole arrangement, plainly. You never pay us anything — not for the call, the tours, the care plan, or the move-in. Your price at a community is identical whether you came through us or walked in off the street, and you can stop working with us at any point, for any reason, with no penalty.

When a family we've helped moves in, that community pays MW Senior Care Services a referral fee. That's how this stays free to you. Most of the places we'd consider work that way — but not all of them, and some pay us nothing at all.

It doesn't decide anything. We'll tell you which options pay us and which don't, so you can judge for yourself rather than take our word for it. Sometimes the right answer earns us nothing — home health, respite, or staying right where they are. We say it anyway.

We never take a fee from a medical provider. Not home health, not hospice, not doctors. Ever.

And the communities we bring you are ones we've walked ourselves — not every community that exists. If there's somewhere specific you want to see, tell us and we'll look into it with you.

Decoded

The questions families ask us at eleven at night.

Alphabet soup, translated by a team that isn't trying to sell you anything. If yours isn't here, call us and ask it.

Do you only work in Houston?

Houston is home and it's where we know the ground best, street by street. But we work across Texas — Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, the coast, and smaller towns in between.

That matters more than people expect. Families often look in two places at once: where mom lives now, and where the adult child who'll be visiting every weekend lives. We can work both ends of that at the same time.

Do you actually visit these places yourself?

Every single one. That's the whole job.

We walk the halls, we meet the cook, and we sit in the activity room on a Tuesday at 3pm when nobody's performing — because a Tuesday afternoon tells you more than a scheduled tour ever will. Kays keeps the notes by hand in a pink notebook that's now seen more Houston communities than most people will in a lifetime.

We showcase one community publicly every Friday, but we're touring far more than that every week.

Mom's being discharged in three days. Can you move that fast?

Yes. This is a large part of what we do.

Because we've already walked these communities, we're not starting from scratch when you call — we know who has availability, who takes the level of care she needs, and who can actually manage a fast admission without it falling apart.

If you're in a discharge situation, call rather than filling in the form. That's what the phone number at the top is for.

What if we're not ready to move — or shouldn't move at all?

Then we'll say so, and we'll build something else.

Plenty of families call us about a community and leave with home health, a respite schedule, and a plan to revisit in six months. Staying home safely is a completely legitimate answer, and it's one we earn nothing from — which should tell you something about whether we mean it.

And if you're calling with no crisis at all, just thinking ahead? That's the smartest call we get. Decisions made calmly are better than decisions made from a hospital hallway.

How many communities will you show me?

Three. Not forty.

Anyone can hand you a list — that's what the websites do, and it's why families end up paralysed at 2am. Our job is to have already done the eliminating. We'll bring you three we'd walk our own mothers through, and we'll tell you exactly why the others aren't on it.

To be straightforward with you: the three won't be every community that exists. Some don't work with us, and some we wouldn't send you to. If there's a specific place you want to see, say so and we'll look into it with you.

What about Medicaid, or veterans benefits?

Medicaid can help in Texas, but it's genuinely complicated — there are waiver programs that can go toward assisted living, eligibility rules that catch people out, and waiting lists that can be long. We'll tell you honestly whether it's worth pursuing for your situation rather than sending you down a rabbit hole.

Veterans benefits are the ones most families miss. If your parent is a veteran or the surviving spouse of one, there are benefits that can meaningfully change what's affordable. Surviving spouses get overlooked constantly. That's why it's a question on our intake form.

For either one, we'll point you to people who do this for a living. We don't charge you for that and we don't get paid for it.

Does Medicare pay for assisted living?

No — and this is the single most common and most painful surprise families hit.

Medicare does not pay for assisted living, memory care, or long-term custodial care. It does cover hospice, home health in certain circumstances, and a limited stretch of skilled nursing after a qualifying hospital stay — which is where the confusion comes from. That skilled nursing coverage is short-term rehab, not a place to live.

Assisted living is generally paid from private funds, long-term care insurance, veterans benefits, or in some cases Medicaid.

What does senior living actually cost around Houston?

Everyone in this industry gets vague about money. We won't.

Assisted living around Houston generally runs $6,500–$9,000 a month. That is higher than most families expect, and finding out late is how people end up moving a second time they never budgeted for. So we say it first, before anyone falls in love with somewhere.

Personal care homes generally run $3,000–$5,000 — a fraction of the cost, which is a large part of why they're the best-kept secret in Houston senior living. Memory care generally runs $7,000–$12,000, because the staffing and training behind that locked door genuinely cost more.

All of it moves with location, room size, and how much hands-on care your mom actually needs.

And watch for care levels. Many communities quote you a base rent and then add a care tier on top, which can be several hundred to a couple of thousand more a month. Always ask what level they're assessing your mom at, and what would push her to the next one. We ask that on every tour.

What do Type A and Type B mean on a Texas licence?

It's about evacuation, and almost nobody explains it to families.

Type A means residents can get themselves out of the building in an emergency without help. Type B means they may need assistance to evacuate, and may need staff attending to them overnight.

Why it matters: if your mom's mobility declines and she's in a Type A community, she may be asked to move. Knowing the licence type before you fall in love with a place can save your family a second move nobody wanted.

What is a nursing home — and is that the same as skilled nursing?

Same thing, different name. "Nursing home" is what families call it. "Skilled nursing facility," or SNF, is what the industry calls it.

It is the highest level of care outside a hospital: licensed nurses on site around the clock, physicians overseeing care, therapy under the same roof. It exists for people who need genuine medical care every day.

Here is the distinction that matters, and almost nobody explains it. Assisted living and personal care homes are places to live, with help. A nursing home is a medical setting. If your mom needs a hand with bathing and someone to keep track of her medication, she very likely does not need a nursing home — and being told she does is one of the more expensive mistakes a family can make.

If she needs wound care, IV medication, or nursing supervision overnight, that is a different conversation, and we will tell you so plainly.

Two more things worth knowing. Nursing homes are the setting Medicaid pays for most readily in Texas. And short-term rehab after a hospital stay happens in nursing homes too — that is the stretch Medicare covers, and it is constantly confused with moving in permanently. They are not the same thing.

What's the difference between a personal care home, assisted living, and memory care?

A personal care home is usually a regular house in a regular neighbourhood with a handful of residents — often three to sixteen. Quiet, homey, high caregiver-to-resident ratio. For a lot of people it's the best-kept secret in senior living.

Assisted living is the bigger community model — apartments, a dining room, activities, staff on site around the clock. More social, more amenities, more people.

Memory care is assisted living built specifically for dementia — secured doors, staff trained in it, routines designed around how memory actually works.

Most families arrive certain they need one of these and leave having chosen another. That conversation is most of what the first call is for.

Do you get paid for home health or hospice referrals?

No. Never. We don't take a fee from home health agencies, hospice providers, doctors, or any medical provider — not one dollar, not ever.

That's a deliberate choice. It means when we tell you a hospice team is gentle and good at what they do, there's nothing in it for us except you having a better week than you would have otherwise.

Do you just send us where you get paid?

No. And we'd rather you asked out loud.

Here are the honest mechanics: communities pay MW Senior Care Services a referral fee when a family moves in. Most of the places we'd consider for you work that way — but not all of them, and some pay us nothing at all.

It doesn't change what we recommend. We place your loved one where they fit, not where we get paid. We'll tell you which options on your list pay us and which don't, so you can judge for yourself rather than take our word for it.

Everyone deserves a place to call home that actually meets their needs. If that place happens to earn us nothing, that's still the one we'll point you to.

And we never take a fee from a medical provider at all — not home health, not hospice, not doctors.

Is this really free? What's the catch?

It's really free, and there's no catch — but you deserve to know how it works. You never pay us anything. Not for the call, the tours, the care plan, or the move-in.

When a family we've helped moves into a senior living community, that community pays MW Senior Care Services a referral fee. It's the standard arrangement in this industry. Your price at the community is exactly the same whether you found them through us or walked in off the street.

We'll also tell you which places on your list pay us and which don't — and we'll still recommend the one that's right for your mom either way.

Who are we helping?

Whoever we're talking about — we'll use their name from here on.

What are you looking for?

Check as many as apply. "Not sure" is a completely normal answer.

Where are you looking?

Check every area you'd consider — plenty of families look in two places at once.

Is she or he a veteran?

Worth asking — veterans and surviving spouses often qualify for benefits that change what's affordable.
